Test Results

The AlphaSTAR process provides superior long-term electrical properties as demonstrated by the surface insulation resistance (SIR) and electromigration (EM) test results provided in the above chart. In addition, AlphaSTAR immersion silver provides a clean surface that easily passes the IPC ionics test and typical automotive requirements.

Underwriters Laboratories Certification

The AlphaSTAR process complies with current UL requirements (UL796 specification, section 7.2.1). UL has determined that immersion silver has similar reliability to all other widely used PWB surface finishes and is exempt from special testing and certification.
