Intel: Board Failure Percent Due to Microvoids

Intel generated the Data provided in the chart below in parallel to DOE testing to further confirm both the DOE and Historical data conclusions. The results provide production-proven evidence of AlphaSTAR being far superior to three other competitive immersion silver processes (C-1, C-2, C-3) used by eleven fabricators at varying product lots.
As illustrated above, there is significant variability between immersion silver chemistries. AlphaSTAR was the only immersion silver process that experienced no lot failures. Of the four immersion silver processes employed, AlphaSTAR had the least variability and immersion silver C-2 had the most variability amongst Intel PWB fabrication suppliers.
